On June 3, 2023, at approximately 9:12 PM, Montgomery police and fire medics responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of North University Drive, near Alabama State University. Upon arrival, they discovered 28-year-old Donald Bell Jr., a Montgomery resident, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Bell was pronounced dead at the scene.
