On September 12, 2023, Pike County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a welfare check at 834 County Road 6618 in Banks, Alabama. Upon entering the residence, they discovered 62-year-old Randy Thorne deceased from a gunshot wound to the head.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested 61-year-old Lisa Tolin of Banks, charging her with one count of murder. She was detained in the Pike County Jail without bond, pending an Aniah's Law hearing.
