On May 17, 2024, at approximately 6:38 p.m., Birmingham police responded to reports of a shooting near Coosa Street. Upon arrival, officers were directed to Greenwood Park, where they discovered a red Dodge Charger submerged in a pond. Inside the vehicle, they found 25-year-old Gabriel Deamontae Bester deceased from gunshot wounds.
