On May 31, 2024, at approximately 2:29 a.m., 12-year-old Indyah Knight was shot in the 4100 block of Keating Drive in Montgomery, Alabama, near the Montgomery Zoo. She was initially treated at a local hospital before being transferred to a Birmingham facility due to the severity of her injuries. Despite medical efforts, Indyah succumbed to her injuries on June 7, 2024.
