On June 8, 2015, Qur'an Vines, aged 21, was shot and killed in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 4:01 PM in the rear of the 5100 block of Southern Avenue, SE. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived on the scene following reports of gunfire and found Vines suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Vines succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
