On July 31, 2024, at approximately 5:38 a.m., 67-year-old Ethel Moore Thomas was fatally shot in her home on Sample Avenue in Prichard, Alabama. While she and her husband were asleep, unknown individuals drove by their residence and fired multiple shots into the house. A bullet penetrated their bedroom wall, striking Mrs. Thomas, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
