On the evening of September 22, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the 700 block of 81st Place South. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Jamarcus Desean McIntyre lying unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
