A 52-year-old man, Joseph Robinson, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in Washington D.C. The incident occurred on a Thursday evening in April 2022, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Robinson was lawfully crossing New Jersey Avenue within a marked crosswalk when a vehicle disregarded a red light and struck him.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid or contact the authorities, instead fleeing the scene.
Emergency services, including DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, were dispatched to the location. Robinson was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
As of the initial reports, the authorities were actively searching for the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run. The police have an ongoing investigation into the collision.
