On a summer afternoon in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck in the 4300 block of Fourth Street SE. It was Friday, July 15, 2016, when gunfire erupted, forever altering the lives of several people. When the chaos subsided, three individuals were found to have been shot. Among them was 20-year-old Sharod Harris, a male resident of Southwest D.C. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The shooting, which occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m., also left two other
people wounded. One was transported to the hospital by emergency services, while the other arrived by a private vehicle. The Metropolitan Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the incident, canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and any information that could lead to a break in the case.
In the days that followed, the police department publicly appealed for assistance, urging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for what was now being investigated as a homicide.
