In the summer of 2016, a Saturday afternoon in the nation's capital turned deadly for a young man from Maryland. On August 13th, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of V Street, Southeast, in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C. There, they found 19-year-old Gary Thompson suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
