In the early morning hours of July 8, 2006, the life of 44-year-old Chris Crowder, a well-known male political activist in Washington, D.C., was tragically cut short. Sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m., in a park located in the 600 block of N Street, NW, Crowder was shot multiple times. When police arrived at the scene, they found him next to his wheelchair, a consequence of a previous shooting in 1990 that had left him paralyzed from the waist down.
