On January 27, 2003, 30-year-old Fela H. Avery was found shot to death in a wooded area adjacent to a walking trail on the Old Richardson Highway near the Athletic Club building in Fairbanks, Alaska. His death was ruled a homicide, and the case remains unsolved.
Fela Avery was born on June 24, 1972. He was the son of Charles Hill, a U.S. fugitive who hijacked a plane to Cuba in 1971 and has lived there since. Hill never met his son, as Fela was born after the hijacking incident.
Tragically, Fela was murdered at the age of 30, and his case is among the unsolved homicides listed by the Fairbanks Police Department.
