On December 28, 2015, in Bethel, Alaska, 4-year-old William Anderson tragically died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred in an Alaska State Trooper housing unit, where William, the son of a state trooper, was playing alone in the living room. He discovered a handgun and accidentally shot himself. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, William succumbed to his injuries.
