On July 3, 2017, White/Caucasian, 76-year-old Nadya Vehrs, a female from Anchorage, was at the center of a quiet neighborhood emergency that began with a welfare check at a home in the 11000 block of Hillside Drive. Officers first looked in on the residence the evening before and found no one home. When they returned the next day and widened their search beyond the house, they discovered two bodies on the property, ending the uncertainty with a grim clarity.
