On June 15, 2021, in Fairbanks, Alaska, 30-year-old Katy Raye Higgins was fatally shot by her fiancé, 32-year-old Heath Logan McCloskey, who then took his own life in an apparent murder-suicide. The incident occurred at McCloskey's residence, where both were found deceased. Two children, an infant and a six-year-old, were present during the tragedy but were unharmed.
