On March 24, 2023, in Mountain Village, Alaska, 35-year-old Larry Andrews from St. Mary's was fatally shot multiple times. The incident was reported to the Alaska State Troopers at 1:54 p.m. by the Mountain Village Tribal Police, who had detained a suspect at the scene. Troopers from the St. Mary's post, located approximately 25 miles away, responded promptly.
