On the evening of June 6, 2023, Alaska State Troopers were called to a reported shooting in Soldotna. When they arrived around 9 p.m., they found 43-year-old Shaun Perry, a white male, deceased from a gunshot wound. Troopers said his body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office and next of kin were notified, while the Alaska Bureau of Investigation's Soldotna Major Crimes Unit took over an active investigation into the killing.
