In the spring of 2024, the community of Alexander City, Alabama, was gripped by the disappearance of 30-year-old Quanisha Davis. A resident of Alexander City, the young woman's absence became a cause for concern after her family had not seen her since the middle of May. Their worries prompted them to officially report her missing on May 24th, setting in motion a search that would end in tragedy.
The investigation led authorities to the nearby town of Dadeville, where a significant break in the case occurred on the evening of May 29th. In a wooded area off North Loop Road, Davis's SUV was discovered, intensifying the search for the missing woman. The following morning, at approximately 7:45 a.m., the grim discovery of her body was made in a separate wooded area off Herren Street. Her remains were subsequently sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The investigation quickly zeroed in on a suspect, and on the same day her body was found, an arrest was made. Robert Lee Young, a 55-year-old man from Dadeville, was taken into custody and charged with her murder. Authorities revealed that Young and Davis had been in a dating relationship. Further investigation into Young's background revealed a troubled history, as he was reportedly out on bond for a prior domestic violence charge that also involved Davis. This previous incident, which occurred on New Year's Day, had led to his arrest on January 7th, though he was released on bond the following day. Prosecutors are now seeking to have that bond revoked in light of the murder charge.
