On the night of July 18, 2024, just before midnight, 43-year-old Demetrius LaKeen Fletcher was fatally shot in the 1900 block of 10th Avenue North in Bessemer, Alabama. Witnesses reported that an argument preceded the shooting, during which Fletcher sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
