On the evening of September 24, 2023, 24-year-old Demetrius Damon Windham Jr. was fatally shot outside his residence on Northwood Lake Drive West in Northport, Alabama. Responding to reports of a shooting around 7:15 p.m., officers from the Northport Police Department arrived to find Windham deceased at the scene. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) subsequently took over the investigation.
