Quindarius Germon Peeples, an 18-year-old Black male from Birmingham, Alabama, was killed in a shooting on Thanksgiving night, November 24, 2022. The incident took place near the 400 block of Orchid Road in the Killough Springs area. Peeples and another 18-year-old male were transported to UAB Hospital in a private vehicle after the shooting. Peeples was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the other victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the initial investigation by
the Birmingham Police Department, the two young men were traveling in a vehicle when occupants of another car opened fire on them. Authorities believe the shooting was a targeted attack, though a specific motive has not been publicly released.
Investigators have been actively working on the case and have encouraged anyone with information to come forward. Community leaders and law enforcement have made public appeals for cooperation to help address gun violence and bring justice for Peeples.
