On May 16, 2022, 17-year-old Dwaine Thomas was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 1200 block of Tuscaloosa Avenue. Officers from the Birmingham Police Department, who were in the vicinity responding to an unrelated call, observed a physical altercation involving Thomas.
