On May 16, 2022, 83-year-old Daniel Richard Garrick was found deceased in his Birmingham, Alabama, home located in the 600 block of Sheridan Road. Responding to a welfare check, Birmingham Police officers discovered Garrick's body, noting injuries consistent with an assault. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Garrick had sustained fatal injuries during a reported assault, leading authorities to investigate the case as a homicide.
