On the evening of April 29, 2022, at approximately 10:55 PM, Birmingham Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4200 block of 2nd Avenue South. Upon arrival at an apartment complex, they discovered 25-year-old Roderick Mariachi Williams Jr. lying unresponsive on a staircase, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Nearby, another male victim was found on the sidewalk with life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to UAB Hospital.
