In the spring of 2022, a young man's life was cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. Roderick Mariachi Williams Jr., a 25-year-old male, was killed on April 29, 2022. The incident that led to his death also resulted in another man being shot and critically injured.
Following the shooting, the Birmingham Police Department began an investigation that quickly led to a suspect. Demarco Harris was identified and taken into custody in connection with the deadly double shooting.
He was subsequently charged with murder for the death of Williams and attempted murder for the shooting of the second victim.
Harris's legal troubles were not new. He had previously been charged in the shooting death of a two-year-old boy in 2017. However, that charge was ultimately dropped. For the charges related to the death of Roderick Williams Jr., Harris was booked into jail with a bond set at $2 million.
