On September 20, 2022, in Oneonta, Alabama, 2-year-old Ian James Wiesman tragically died after being left in a hot vehicle for seven hours. His grandfather, 56-year-old William "Bill" Wiesman, had reportedly believed he had dropped Ian off at daycare that morning. Unaware that Ian remained strapped in his car seat, Bill proceeded to work, returning to his truck three times throughout the day without noticing the child.
