Death by Force

On July 20, 2021, in Birmingham, Alabama, 11-month-old Raylee Allen was fatally shot during a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex on Carson Road. Responding to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance and a person shot, Birmingham police officers arrived to find Raylee's mother, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy, holding her unresponsive child. The infant had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
