On February 26, 2021, in Empire, Alabama, 26-year-old Frederick Earl Hight II was fatally shot by a Walker County sheriff's deputy. The incident occurred when deputies responded to a domestic violence call at Hight's residence on Coon Creek Road. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered Hight, who was reportedly unarmed and wearing a bathrobe.
