On June 2, 2020, 50-year-old Lt. Stephen Williams of the Moody Police Department in Alabama was fatally shot while responding to a 911 call at the Super 8 Motel in Moody. Upon knocking on the motel room door, he was met with a barrage of gunfire from inside, with 43 rounds fired through the wall and door from four different weapons. Williams, a 23-year law enforcement veteran, had served the last three years with the Moody Police Department and was posthumously promoted to lieutenant.
