On August 13, 2019, 19-year-old Javaon Ousley, an Alabama A&M University student, was fatally shot by an off-duty Lincoln police officer in Talladega, Alabama. The incident occurred at a basketball court near the Knoxville Homes public housing community. According to reports, the off-duty officer was in the area for a Facebook Marketplace transaction when the shooting took place.
