On a tragic day in August of 2019, the life of 45-year-old Beverly Holston Harris, a female resident of Helena, Alabama, was cut short. Her death on August 20th was the culmination of a domestic altercation with her husband, Naylan Lamar Harris. The couple had a known history of domestic disputes.
The situation escalated the day prior to the fatal incident when Beverly was arrested on a domestic violence charge. After being released on bond, she went back to their shared home. Armed with a handgun, she reportedly discharged the weapon multiple times outside the residence before entering.
Once inside the house, a confrontation ensued where both she and her husband were armed. The altercation tragically ended with Beverly being shot and killed. Following the shooting, Naylan Harris was taken into custody by law enforcement. At the time, formal charges had not been filed as the case was pending further investigation and a review by a grand jury.
