In the summer of 2022, a violent encounter in Birmingham, Alabama, claimed the life of 37-year-old Michael Arrington. On the evening of June 6th, Arrington and a female companion were seated in his white van on the 1100 block of 40th Street in the Ensley neighborhood. It was then that an unknown assailant, or assailants, opened fire on the vehicle.
The gunfire proved fatal for Arrington, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
His female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to UAB Hospital for treatment. Investigators with the Birmingham Police Department have stated their belief that the shooting was not a random act of violence, but rather that Arrington and his companion were specifically targeted.
Despite the targeted nature of the attack, the case has remained without a resolution. As of the most recent public updates, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting and have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest.
