On October 6, 2023, at approximately 1:12 a.m., 27-year-old Dyron Mays-Perry was fatally shot in the parking lot of a local business in the 800 block of 2nd Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. A North Precinct officer, while patrolling the area, heard gunshots and arrived at the scene to find Mays-Perry and 22-year-old Jjuan Cole suffering from gunshot wounds.
