On the evening of November 17, 2015, Javontae Gerald Bufford, a 23-year-old African-American man from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was fatally shot while seated in his vehicle near the intersection of 76th Street and Hampton Avenue. Milwaukee police officers, who were in the vicinity, reported hearing gunshots around 9:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered Mr. Bufford in the driver's seat, suffering from a gunshot wound.
