A man is gunned down
On May 16, 1975, Joseph J. Kelly, a 20-year-old U.S. Navy serviceman stationed at Dam Neck Naval Base, was found shot in Virginia Beach. The incident occurred just after midnight in the 200 block of 10th Street, where police responded to a report of gunfire. Kelly was rushed to Virginia Beach General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.
