A man is shot to death inside his home In the early morning hours of August 16, 2016, the quiet community of St. Stephens Church, Virginia, was disturbed by an act of violence that claimed the life of 24-year-old James Edward 'Scooter' Byrd. An African American male, Byrd was discovered inside his residence, having been shot multiple times. The King and Queen County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting the shooting and, upon arrival, found Byrd deceased at the scene. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
