In the late evening hours of Wednesday, July 26, 2017, tragedy struck in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake, Virginia. Curtis Overton, a 61-year-old male, was going about his usual routine of collecting discarded items from the curbside. Known in his community as a 'scrapper,' he would often drive his distinctive yellow GMC Avalanche, looking for things he could salvage. Family members described him as a 'happy-go-lucky guy,' and he was a familiar sight to many in his neighborhood.
