On March 8, 2008, 70-year-old Joe Edward Moses, a long-standing convenience store owner in Houston's Independence Heights neighborhood, was found severely beaten inside his store, the Crosstimbers Drive Inn Store, located at 740 Crosstimbers. A customer discovered Moses behind the counter around 9:50 a.m., suffering from multiple head injuries.
