On May 17, 1979, the body of 14-year-old Adam Ashley was discovered on the shores of Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego, California. A bicyclist riding along the beach that morning found Ashley's lifeless body just above the surf, about half a mile south of Carmel Valley Road.
