Dereck Peppers, aged 40, was shot and killed on April 11, 2011, in San Diego's Mountain View neighborhood. Peppers was standing outside a liquor store on Ocean View Boulevard when he was gunned down. The investigation revealed that Peppers was a member of the 5/9 Brim gang, which is affiliated with the Bloods, and his murder was part of ongoing gang violence between the Brims and their rivals, the Crips. Known by the moniker "Fat Ocean," Peppers was regarded as a respected "OG" or original gangs ...
