Roughly thirty minutes later, a concerned citizen flagged down a police officer and reported seeing a cab driver slumped over the steering wheel of his taxi at 4100 Colts Way, less than a mile from where Jones had
been dispatched.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Jackson Jones in the driver’s seat of his cab, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The initial investigation indicated that Jones was likely shot during an attempted robbery. Witnesses reported seeing a man leave the cab after the shooting and flee on foot.
