In the summer of 2007, a wave of violence cast a shadow over Memphis, Tennessee, and in the midst of this turbulent period, 19-year-old Anthony Pointer, a male resident of the city, lost his life. On Sunday, July 15, 2007, Pointer was killed in what has since been described as a targeted act of violence. His death added to the growing concerns about the safety of young people in the community during a particularly chaotic and dangerous time.
