In the late hours of a Monday evening in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. On April 28, 2008, 19-year-old Marcus Anthony McGee, an African-American male, had just completed his shift at the Swifty Gas Station located at 3720 Dickerson Road. As he was leaving, two men confronted him at gunpoint and forced him back inside the station in what would become a fatal robbery.
The assailants, described as a tall Black male and a smaller individual, proceeded
to rob the gas station. During the commission of the crime, McGee was assaulted and shot. Despite his grave injuries, he managed to flee from the station, collapsing on Dickerson Road near Tuckahoe Drive. Emergency services responded, but Marcus Anthony McGee succumbed to his injuries.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Nashville Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Detectives with the Cold Case Homicide Unit are actively seeking information from the public that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the two individuals responsible for McGee's death. To date, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and help bring closure to the family of Marcus Anthony McGee.
