On December 12, 2016, John S. Moss Jr., a 39-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in East Nashville, Tennessee. Authorities discovered him inside his running Chevrolet Malibu near Marina Street and North 9th Street. A small bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine was found in the front seat of the vehicle. Moss was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
