Beatrice A. Riley, a 23-year-old African American woman, was abducted from her home on Harlem Street in Columbia, South Carolina, on the night of March 11, 1972. She worked as a secretary at the State Office of Planning and Grants. Her husband, Arthur Riley, had left for work that evening, and shortly after, she was taken from her residence.
