In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 19, 1978, a sense of unease settled over the Caper House Convenience Store on East Faris Road in Greenville, South Carolina. Inside, 60-year-old Chester Miller was working his shift, unaware of the violence that was about to befall him. At approximately 12:56 a.m., he was discovered murdered, the victim of a single gunshot wound to his chest.
