Fakhur Uddin, a 20-year-old resident of Philadelphia, was tragically murdered on August 20, 2008, in East Germantown. The incident occurred in a gift and sundry store that he was managing for his father, who was unable to work due to illness. Fakhur was bound with duct tape and shot in the head in the back room of the store. The murder took place almost exactly seven years after Fakhur had emigrated from Bangladesh to the United States, seeking a better life for himself and his family.
