Esteban Zavala, a 60-year-old man, was murdered on September 18, 1999, in Apple Valley, California. His body was discovered on Quarry Road near Central Road, having been dumped at the scene after being killed. Investigators believe that Zavala had connections with Gennie Gallardo and her family in Victorville, but few other details about his background or the circumstances of the crime are publicly known.
The case remains unsolved and is classified as a cold case by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Department. The lack of witnesses or clear evidence has made it challenging for law enforcement to make significant progress. Authorities continue to appeal for information from the public, urging anyone with tips to contact the Sheriff's Department or use the WeTip anonymous hotline. The case is a reminder of the challenges involved in solving homicides that go cold, and the ongoing hope for breakthroughs through community involvement.
