On June 28, 2011, 26-year-old Saleem Garland was shot and killed in Nicetown, Philadelphia, while sitting inside a car. The incident occurred on the 1700 block of West Juniata Street. This tragic homicide remained unsolved for several years until 2019, when Philadelphia police arrested Michael Blackston, who was linked to multiple unsolved murders.
