His last known movements were traced to a jitney ride that dropped him off at an apartment building in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He reportedly instructed the driver to wait, leaving his phone behind as he entered the building to meet someone. He was never seen alive again.
The jitney driver, after waiting for about an hour, eventually left and later pawned Dominick's phone. Investigators cleared the driver of any involvement in the young man's disappearance.
The days turned into weeks, the weeks into years, and still, there was no sign of Dominick. His mother, Lisa Zellars, tirelessly advocated for her son, keeping his story in the public eye through billboards and pleas for information. The family was tormented by the unknown, clinging to the hope that he might one day return, yet fearing the worst. Their worst fears were realized in February 2017, nearly five years after he went missing. Skeletal remains, discovered in a trash can placed in a wooded area in the 900 block of Washington Street in McKeesport, were identified as those of Dominick Brown-Hill.
The discovery shifted the focus of the investigation from a missing person case to a homicide. An autopsy revealed that Dominick had died from a gunshot wound to the head. The callous nature of his death was a devastating blow to his family, who had prayed for closure but were now faced with the brutal reality of his murder. The Allegheny County Police homicide unit took over the investigation, questioning family and acquaintances and seeking any witnesses who might have seen something suspicious. Despite their efforts, years have passed, and the case has grown cold. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Dominick Brown-Hill, leaving his loved ones still waiting for justice.
