Lavar Rich, a 23-year-old resident of Pittsburgh, was fatally shot on July 13, 2014, in the Homewood neighborhood of the city. The incident occurred near Brushton Avenue and Race Street, where Lavar was found face down in a grassy area, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Police were alerted to the scene following reports of several gunshots heard in the area during the early hours of the morning.
